Gluster 3.1: Exploring Common Operations

From GlusterDocumentation

<<Getting Started | Table of Contents | Logging out of the Management Console>>

This section describes the most common operations and tasks that you are likely to complete using the Management Console.

Changing the Administrator's Password

After installing Gluster Storage Platform, the system assigns a default password (glusteradmin) enabling you to access the Management Console. Gluster strongly recommends that you change this password.

For more information, see Changing the Administrator's Password.

Expanding or Shrinking a Volume

You can expand volumes dynamically by adding additional server partitions without having to stop or restart the volume. Similarly, you can shrink volumes dynamically by removing server partitions.

For more information, see Expanding a Volume and Shrinking a Volume.

Migrating Volumes or Servers

You can migrate volumes and server partitions, as needed. For example, you can migrate volumes and server partitions when you need to upgrade your storage hardware.

For more information, see Migrating a Volume and Migrating a Disk.

Logging out of the Management Console

You should log out of the Management Console after you have completed your required tasks. For more information, see Logging out of the Management Console.
